In the beginning, America was known as a land of opportunity for many immigrants. The United States has had more immigrants come to its land than any other nation. There were many different reasons people had for immigrating to America. Getting to America was not an easy task. The immigrants suffered many hardships. When you have finished this webquest you will know the hardships the Irish suffered before, during and after their quest for America.
We will be taking a look at the immigration of three different families. The class will be divided into three families. These families will becoming from Ireland. Your teacher will pass out some index cards with numbers on them. Each family will be immigrating from Ireland to America. There will be six sessions of this immigration webquest. After the last session you will have completed a journal containing three entries. You will also be drawing a picture to go with each entry and creating a cover for you journal. During these sessions you will keep all of your work in a folder.
