Inspiration and the Web
Follow these steps and you will have a
very well organized, clean webpage.
- Create a basic web using Inspiration
software. Click on this
link to see example of how I used Inspiration to create a
navigational picture for the teachers' homework pages at Stonewall
Traditional Elementary. If you are using this to create a
navigational picture for you classroom webpage, you might want to add topics
such as "supplies," "cafeteria menu," "student of
the week," "units," "field trips," "school
calendar," "homework," etc.
- After you have created a navigational
picture, click on the following:
- FILE
- EXPORT
- Choose the jpeg format
- SAVE
- Name your picture
- Choose a place in which to save it
- SAVE
- Close out of Inspiration. It is a
good idea to go ahead and save your Inspiration organizer just incase you
need to make changes.
- Open your webpage editing program such
as Microsoft Front Page or Netscape Composer.
- On a new page, click on:
- INSERT
- PICTURE
- Then find where you saved your
Inspiration jpeg picture
- Highlight your picture
- OK
- Now your picture is on your webpage.
- If you are using Microsoft Front Page
2000, continue the following steps. If you are using another program
in which to create your webpage, consult the manual for instructions on how
to create hotspots or links on a picture.
- Click on your picture so that it is
selected. A tool bar will appear at the bottom of the screen.
- Using the lower toolbar, select the
rectangular tool that says "rectangular hotspot" when your cursor
is over it.
- Move your cursor over the area that you
wish to create a link on and draw a box by clicking on your mouse and
dragging the shape over this area.
- Your screen will look something like
this:

- When you let go of your mouse, a box
will pop up asking for the URL that you would like your view to go to when
that area is clicked. Type in that URL (Internet address) in the box.
- Click on OK.
- Follow steps 8 through 13 for each link
(hotspot) you would like to add to your picture.
