The Civil War Quest

Choose your class' topic from the links below.  Take a few minutes to skim through each site.  As you do, write down different sub-topics that would be interesting for a group to cover.  Remember, one of these sub-topics could be used by your group, so make them interesting!  After the time is up, we will use Inspiration as a class and decide what sub-topics will be covered by your class.  Then a team will be assigned to each topic.  The Inspiration organizer will then be printed out and posted under your class' name.  Now, get that pencil and paper ready!  Let's go!

Creative Writing and Planning Suggestions

Think of ways to make your web page presentation stand out.   Perhaps some of the suggestions below will help to start the creative juices flowing.  Keep in mind that these are only suggestions.  You might come up with a better and more creative way of reporting your findings of your research.

Causes of the Civil War Battles of the Civil War Heroes of the Civil War
  • Report each cause and the effects as a newspaper would
  • Report as though you were reporting it live on a broadcast (Civil War Nightly News)
  • Create cause and effect charts comparing and contrasting these events.
  • Create a timeline using Inspiration
  • For each battle include, Dates (and duration, location, Commanding officers of each side, results of the battle and interesting facts) You could put this in a table of facts form
  • Report each battle as a newspaper would
  • Interview each hero (don't forget to include the significance of that person and their contributions!)
  • Tell their story from their perspective (as if it was them telling the story)
  • Create a timeline using Inspiration of when each person and when t hey made an important contribution to the Civil War

Kentucky and the Civil War

North VS South

Here are some things that you need to remember when creating your webpage:

Is your information organized?

Does it make sense?

Did you proofread? (All sentences start with a capital and end with a punctuation mark)

Are your facts clearly stated?

Are these your own words and not a references' word?
