  3. You decided what you want your students to know when the web-based activity is finished.
  4. You decided what type of web-based activity you want your students complete.

Scavenger Hunt

All you need to do now is follow the steps below: 

1.  Do a search on the topic that you have chosen.  On the right, is a list of a few search engines for your convenience.  You may want to print **this page out before starting your search.  **This page on Cathy Brandt's site will give you instructions down at the bottom of the page as to how to save it on your desktop.

2.  Now that you have gathered your websites and URL's (web addresses), it is now time to create your student activity sheet.  Using a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word, is highly suggested.

You can also post your worksheet and links on the web.  Contact your school's webmaster if you don't have access to do so.

WebQuest

All you need to do now is follow the steps below: 

1.  Save this Microsoft Word document by  right clicking on webquest worksheet.  Click on Save Target as.  Scroll up until you see desktop as a location choice.  Click on it.  Click on Save.   You have now saved this file to your own machine.  To open and work on it minimize this window.  Go to your desktop and double click on the icon, webquesttemplate.
2.  After opening the webquesttemplate document, begin filling out the information in each block.  Here are some search engines you might want to use when searching for **resources.

**Remember that Internet sites are not the only resources you have to use in a webquest.  You have resources within your classroom, in the library, in a dictionary and also in encyclopedias, to name a few.

One Site Activity

All you need to do now is follow the steps below: 

1.  Do an Internet search for your topic.

Here are some search engines that you might want to use during your search.

2.  Explore your website thoroughly.  Become very familiar with it.
3.  Decide whether you want your students to explore this site 
  • without previous introduction
  • with a bit of introduction
  • with a full introduction

**It is usually a good idea with younger students to at least introduce the site and show them how to navigate within the site.

4.  Decide if you want an activity sheet to go with this site.  If you want an activity sheet, now is the time to create one.
