Conclusion

The World Wide Web offers a lot of free information and puts it all at our finger tips.  Just by the click of a mouse, one can discover so many things.  Traditionally, we have always kept learning to the classroom books and perhaps a few other references.  Those are not to be tossed aside, but to be integrated to create web-based activities.  It is a proven fact that students like and are intrigued by the computer.  Using web-based activities in the classroom can only enhance the learning process and allow us as educators to do more one-on-one teaching for those who need more assistance.  On the other hand, it also opens a door to those students who are more advanced to give them the challenges that they so rightly deserve.

Some food for thought...

What if you developed a web-based activity for each subject area and used them throughout the year?

What if you gave your students a topic and let them create a web-based activity?

What if you created a web-based activity and integrated several subject areas?

What if you took your web-based activity one step further and had your students use a multimedia program (such as Microsoft Power Point or HyperStudio) to present their findings to an audience (such as their classmates, other classes or even their parents)?
