STONEWALL TRADITIONAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Site Based Council Meeting
May 13, 2005

Members present:  David Ewen, Janie Griggs, Andrea Guise, Leslie LeBlanc and Ty Sturdivant.

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 PM.

 1.  Agenda Item 1 – Review of Agenda

The purpose of the meeting was to create new interview questions to be used with candidates for the principal selection.

 2. Agenda Item 2 – Question Development

The following questions were created by the council, categorized and assigned to a council member as labeled:

uGive specific examples of innovative educational activities that you’ve initiated.  What was the outcome? (David)

vWhat are you guidelines and expectations regarding lesson plans and teacher evaluation and what experience do you have in this capacity?  (Janie)

wDifferentiated instruction is important in meeting the needs of all students. You have just observed a teacher who is teaching a math lesson on regrouping, and she is teaching via direct instruction.  Pre-testing has shown that five have mastered the skill, 12 are ready and five don’t have the readiness to work on this concept.  What suggestions would you give the teacher to better meet the needs of all the students? (Leslie)

xGive us a timeline of major priorities and responsibilities for your first year at Stonewall. (Ty)

y Inn the May 1st newspaper, Stu Silberman is quoted as saying there are several principal candidates he considers to be “high flyers.”  Tell us what you think he meant by this and why you might be considered one of these “high flyers.” (Andrea)

Action:  The questions will be typed by the secretary onto the template provided by Mr. Mattox, and routed to the council members.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Beth Roseland

SBDM Secretary
