Principal Selection
Interview Questions
April 20, 2005
Members present:
David Ewen, Andrea Guise, Janie Griggs, Leslie LeBlanc and Ty Sturdivant.
The meeting was called to order at 5:35 PM.
Andrea Guise and David Ewen distributed the
listing of the goals and attributes with questions identified to assist in
asking the candidates as related to the desired attributes.
Four goals were listed, noting that Goal #1 should read:
“To maintain a high level of parental involvement and support in the
academic mission and climate of the school.”
A fourth goal was added which read:
“To continue to facilitate communications, respect and camaraderie
among parents, faculty/staff, and students.”
It was determined that all of the attributes listed should remain.
ACTION:
Andrea Guise moved to accept the goals and
attributes as presented. Leslie
LeBlanc seconded the motion, which was approved by consensus.
The following questions were developed by
the SBDM council of Stonewall Elementary for the purposes of interviewing
candidates for the position of principal. The
questions are listed and referenced according to the attribute that is to be
assessed:

Relate how your present experience and background will convince us that
you are the best candidate to be Stonewall’s next principal.

How would you describe your management and leadership style as it
relates to staff and students?

What mechanism would you use to ensure that Stonewall is
optimizing the utilization of the curriculum map?
Interpersonal

4.
What qualities do you possess that would demonstrate to us that
you have the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with staff,
parents and students? Give specific
examples.

5.
How would you achieve a balance between teacher independence and
professionalism versus administrative oversight?

Presently Stonewall has an academic performance index score of

ACTION:
The Goals and Attributes will be sent
electronically to Lisa Stone, director by the secretary.
At that time, a request will be made to screen applications and have
those chosen available for review on Thursday, April 28 by the council.
The interview questions will be sent to Mr. McCaw and Mrs. Stone,
requesting their input and feedback. The
council will meet with Mr. McCaw on April 28 to get this information.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM.
