Minutes
Stonewall Elementary School
School-Based Decision Making Council
Meeting of Tuesday, January 27, 2005

Members present:  David Ewen, Andrea Guise and Leslie LeBlanc.  Also in attendance were Mr. Ed McCaw, Bill Gatliff and Dr. Higginbotham.

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM in the Stonewall Library for the purpose of discussing Senate Bill 168.  The KCCT Gap Reduction Model was reviewed, noting the percentage of students in the proficient/distinguished categories.    The following guidelines were noted:

-if categories of student population contain less than 10, the figures aren’t registered

-in 2006 three areas, Reading , Math and Science will be tested for “No Child Left Behind.”

-gains are needed by each biennium

-more than one goal must be chosen

                  -goals are due in January

Mr. McCaw suggested to the council to consider the “No Child Left Behind” criteria, but invited suggestions from the council.  He shared that schools were encouraged to set goals that are superlative, and in doing so, there is opportunity for recognition.

It was recommended that the following goals be adopted:

Content Area

Sub-Group

2004 Results

School Goal 2006

Mathematics

Low SES

31

57

Science

Low SES

50

68

Mathematics

52

Action:  The last page should read “these are two of the three content areas tested.”  With the correction made, the council signed off on the goal.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Beth Roseland

SBDM Secretary
