COMMITTEE MINUTES/MEETING DATES
Stonewall's SBDM committees meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 2:30. Locations vary, but anyone interested in participating in a committee's activities should come to the school on the appropriate date and time and we will be be glad to direct you to the meeting you would like to attend. We welcome any and all parent participation in the work of our committees.
The committees and their missions are listed below. Click on the name to get meeting dates and to read the minutes from this year and past years.
CLIMATE, EQUITY, AND GUIDANCE
Responds
to equity issues as they arise at school and in the FCPS; promotes a guidance
program that includes preventative guidance, interventions as needed, and
support for students, parents, and teachers; works to provide a positive
environment for students, staff, and parents.
CURRICULUM
Addresses
curricular issues related to gifted education (Quest, Primary Talent Pool),
Special Education, ESS, ESL, Competency Assurance/Core Content, and oversees
development of the Consolidated Plan.
PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
Provides and informs
the staff of opportunities in professional development; coordinates PD to comply
with the Consolidated Plan; provides a variety of flexible options; coordinates
PD with allocated funds.
PUBLIC
RELATIONS
Publicizes school
activities in the community; recognizes achievement by staff and students within
school and community; utilizes resources such as email, PTA Newsletter, web
site, neighborhood association newsletters, local government, newspaper, and
television; develops activities at the school that involve community resources.
SOCIAL
Recognizes
and supports staff in circumstances such as retirement, hospitalization,
illness, death, birth/adoption, winter holidays, and appreciation of staff at
various times of the year.
TECHNOLOGY
Ensures
that students and teachers are provided with up-to-date technological tools
necessary to create an enriched academic environment; oversees spending of KETS
funds; ensures that computers are equitably distributed and effectively utilized
in the lab and classrooms.
WRITING
Created
in 2001-02, the Writing Committee consists of the 4th grade teachers and exists
to allow that group of teachers a time to plan ways to improve writing
instruction at the 4th grade level; find efficient means of completing and
scoring portfolios; integrate open-response and on-demand questions into the
curriculum.
