POLICY
2.3 CERTIFIED
VACANCIES
When a vacancy in a certified position occurs, the Council will
decide whether that vacancy will be filled or whether the money will be
used in some other staffing arrangement.
If the Council chooses to fill the vacancy, the following
guidelines will be followed: 1.
The
principal will consider in-school transfers. 2.
If
a vacancy is to be filled, either by a person outside of Stonewall
seeking a voluntary transfer or by a new applicant, excluding
involuntary transfers, an interview committee shall be formed.
The committee shall consist of two teachers, one parent and the
principal. One teacher
shall be from the area in which the vacancy occurs.
The principal shall appoint and chair the committee.
The principal shall select up to five candidates to be
interviewed from the pool of candidates screened by the Fayette County
Public Schools Department of Human Resources.
The committee shall interview the candidates and upon the
completion of the interview shall: A.
Make
recommendations to the principal; or B.
Request
additional candidates to interview.
This procedure shall be followed by the committee until a
candidate recommended by the committee is accepted by the principal.
The final hiring decision is made by the principal and the
principal shall recommend to the Superintendent that this candidate be
offered the position. The
principal shall notify the Council of the person chosen to fill the
vacancy. No candidate shall
be interviewed by the principal or the committee unless a vacancy
actually exists. 3.
If
a vacancy is to be filled by an involuntary transfer, district procedure
shall be followed by the principal.
The Council may determine, with input from the principal and
staff, that the vacancy be filled as vacated, be filled in another
manner, or not filled. If
any vacancy is not to be filled, then the principal and staff shall
determine how these services will be provided and how the money shall be
used to meet the student needs.
Any amendments to this policy shall be approved by the Council. Adopted:
