Writing Meeting--December 12, 2003

Items Discussed:

**Writing Portfolio update--typing begun on Memoirs (homeroom) and Persuasive

Letters (technology); some teachers have begun Personal Narratives.

Feature Articles have been researched by students, bibliographies have been

completed, and prewriting has begun in homeroom. (Teacher modeling, examples

of previous articles, reference to Weekly Reader articles)

(Mrs. Musgrave in the Library, and Ms. Ford in Technology will support our

Feature Article writing with lessons on researching techniques, use of various

sources for bibliography, etc.)

 

**On-Demand Writing--students will write letters to Mrs. Adams showing their appreciation,

and wishing her well on her move; students will compare/contrast the story of Strega Nona after reading the book and attending the play at the Opera House on Dec. 10th.

**Misc. Writing each week to submit to the Herald-Leader ("Mark My Words"), and KET Current Events show ("In the News")
