Discussion on each item.

a. Chair: Amy Ford

b. Minutes: Amy Ford

c. Parent: Mrs. Palmer was contacted via email last week to join us. We haven’t heard back from her as of yet. A letter of invitation will be sent home. Stacey Rearic had voiced an interest in technology at Stonewall and will be invited to join us.

d. Goals:

i. Writing lab will be updated and maintained. We would like to see enough computers in the writing lab so a full class can be taken into the lab. The status right now is 22 upgraded (Windows 2000) computers currently being put on the network.

ii. At least one teacher and one student computer in the classroom

iii. Due to sensitive materials being printed and left in the printer, the committee decided unanimously that the printer to the office will be added to all teacher computers so that sensitive materials will be printed in the office.

e. Email User Agreement: Stonewall 4th and 5th grade students will be able to have active email user accounts this year. The committee created an email user agreement that is to be signed by each fourth and fifth grade student before they can use their email accounts. Please see the attached copy.

f. Fundraiser – Denise Fox is putting together a fundraiser specifically for technology in hopes of raising at least $20,000 for purchasing computers for Stonewall.

(NOTE TO COUNCIL – I discussed email accounts for 4th and 5th grade students with Ms. Ford. This recommendation came from KDE as a way of teaching a life skill to these students. I have many reservations about this idea, and Ms. Ford agreed with me. I wanted the whole thing put on hold until we could get more information. Since I talked with her, I have found that our district coordinator for instructional technology feels the same way, but had to make the option available. I have asked the committee to put this on hold as I am not convinced that having email accounts can be monitored to the point that I can be assured of its safety. More to come on this.)
