Technology Committee Minutes

September 3, 2002 

Members present: Janet Fisher, Bonnie Mooney, Juanita Whitaker and Janie Fields 

Topics Discussed:

Reviewed minutes from last meeting.  Discussed the goals that have been reached and those that are in the works for this school year.

ü       All classrooms now have new TV and are hooked up to a scan converter.   Special classroom teachers are to receive a new TV this year.

Technology PD for this year will include:

Ø       Creating classroom web pages for all teachers

Ø       Using web based activities to integrate the curriculum

Ø       Web Quests

Ø       Web Scavenger Hunts

Ø       Publishing student writing on the web 

Projected KETS Funds this year approximately $8400.00 Current KETS balance $16,038.70. 

Discussed the need to upgrade the classroom and lab computers soon. 

Discussed the PTA purchasing headsets for the lab.

Discussed the PTA purchasing 3-4 laser printers for the school.  These printers would be placed at various locations for all teachers to access. These would eventually replace having a printer in each room. 

The committee would like the PTA to help support the STL Program if their funds are exhausted this year. 

Voted to purchase the software Texthelp  -- cost approximately $1000.00 for the network version
