Technology Committee Meeting
November 14, 2000

Members Present:

Janie Fields, Sue Kolka, Stacie Musgrave, Amy Ford, Chris Dolt, Donna Lansden

 Subjects Addressed:

  1. Chris Dolt, a parent at Stonewall, joined the Tech Committee.  Welcome Mr. Dolt!

  2. We explained what technology plans we had and procedures with Chris.

  3. The last technology meeting notes were reviewed and discussed.

  4. Goals for were voted on and approved.  The goals are as follows:

·        New VCR’s for those teachers who are unable to connect their scan converters up.

·          Stacie ordered the new VCRS. They are in. We are now waiting for the TVs to come in.   One is set up and on the portable cart.

·          A tally was taken of those teachers that have a VCR and remote.  These teachers will be hooked up with the scan converters first.

·        Digital Cameras [1 per grade level] to be purchased by PTA and checked out in the library.

·          A suggestion was made by Andrea Guise (at the SBDM council meeting.) Instead of keeping the cameras in the library, have a central classroom location for each grade level. 

                                    -This was voted on and approved by the Technology Committee.

·        Scan converters will be connected in every classroom.

·           We are in the process of working on different alternatives to get these up and running.

·           Stacie suggested we show some STLP students how to hook the scan converters up.

5.  Purchases with KETS monies were voted on and approved as follows:

a.      Level 1 monochromatic laser printer for the writing lab. 

b.      Level 4 color laser printer for the main lab

c.       Level 2 computers for those teachers that don’t have one.

d.      Printers will be purchased for classroom teachers needing them.

All of the above was ordered. 

6.  Other items voted on and approved include:

a.      Teachers (or adults) must attend students the in the writing lab.  Students will not be in the lab without supervision. Students left unattended will be sent back to their classrooms.

·           Inappropriate URL’s were found in the history on the computers in the writing lab.  The proxy server did not allow them to go to these sites, but someone had attempted to bring up those pages.

·           Some keys were missing from the keyboards.

b.    New computers purchased will be replacing those in the lab. That we used for those teachers not having computers that are able to support Office 2000.

 7.    Other items on the agenda discussed include:

·          Janie or Amy will make a list of those teachers needing newer computers.

·          Stacie’s color printer is up and running          

·         13 level II computers were ordered.
