Stonewall Social Committee Minutes

Present:          Karen Davis, Sarah Erwin, Pam Mitchell, Debbie Moore, Lynn Stewart

The Social Committee guidelines were reviewed from last year.    It was decided to omit from the guidelines sending a card to a faculty or staff member who has been absent one week since this has been difficult to keep up with in the past.  Every member of our staff will receive a copy of the guidelines in September.

Dues were also discussed.  We have no carry-over funds from last year.  Members of the committee have had to use their own funds in order to meet the needs stated in the guidelines.  They will be reimbursed when we collect dues for this year.  Last year certified staff dues were $20 and classified staff dues were $10.  What we spend on all staff for illness (i.e. flowers), weddings, baby gifts, etc. are the same.  The only difference would be the retirement dinner.  Since we have not had any classified staff retire, we have not had to spend money on a gift or pay for a dinner at the reception given in their honor.    Because of this, it was felt that classified staff should pay somewhat less than certified staff; therefore, dues this year will be increased for classified staff from $10 to $15 and certified staff dues will be $20.

Committee members were selected to do the following jobs:

                    Chairman:                       Pam Mitchell

Disbursement of Funds:   Karen Davis, Pam Mitchell

                    Cards:                              Karen Davis

                    Flowers:                          Lynn Stewart

                    Gift Certificates:            Debbie Moore

                    Dues:                             Sarah Erwin

A book from the staff and a booklet from Stonewall students will be presented to Robert at the reception given for our staff by Ed McCaw and Charlie Hardy.  Robert has transferred to a custodial position at another school.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 P.M.
