Committee Name:  Public Relations

Purpose: 

1.     Publicize school activities in the community;

2.     Recognize achievement by staff and students within the school and community;

3.     Utilize resources such as email, PTA Newsletter, web site, neighborhood association newsletters, local government, newspaper, and television;

4.     Develop activities at the school that involve community resources.

Agenda: Members discussed possibilities of news that may need to be relayed to parents and community through the upcoming newsletter.

Discussion on each item: - Lexington Ballet will be coming to Stonewall on Feb. 16, Kelly will talk to Sarah Erwin and get details.

- Young Authors- touch base with teachers as to the students who were involved, what was expected of them, and any awards given out.  Bonnie will talk to Pam M. about these details.

- Acknowledgement of the Rainforest and the time and effort put in by Doug Germann and the Quest students!

- Tsunami Relief Effort- find out the amount that has been collected by our school and put in newsletter.

- ESL Community Opportunities available for families of the ESL students.  We will talk to Shayla Metille about this and share any new information.  Shayla sends home regular info to parents of her ESL students

Action taken on each item:  Members have spoken with some teachers and also with Becky, who is our parent rep and also the Newsletter Editor.  Certain items were added into the Newsletter for this month.
