Committee Name:  Public Relations

Purpose: 

1. Publicize school activities in the community;

2. Recognize achievement by staff and students within the school and community;

3. Utilize resources such as email, PTA Newsletter, web site, neighborhood association newsletters, local government, newspaper, and television;

4. Develop activities at the school that involve community resources.

Members Present: All members were present.

Agenda: We were asked to review 3.1B Standards and Indicators for School Improvements (SISI) and write policies regarding the performance levels.  These procedures are currently in place, but needed to be put into written form.  The following is the result of our discussion.

• Instruction will be aligned with the FCPS curriculum map and is currently being implemented by Stonewall Elementary.
• Learning activities will regularly require students to complete assessment tasks similar to those used for state and local assessments (e.g., open-response questions, experiences with various types of reading, converting data to graphs)
• The principal will review teacher provided evidence on instructional strategies and learning activities to ensure alignment with district, school, and state learning goals and assessment expectations for student learning.

Discussion on each item:  We discussed the best way to word the policies so that they reflect what we are doing and what we know the expectations are with regard to the standards and indicators we must follow in order to achieve our goals.
