PD Minutes

Members Present:  G. Justice, L. Stewart, T. Moore, L. Hawkins, K. Gunn

   1.  PD funding for next year will be cut by 10%. 

 

  1. Funds for this year are very limited; therefore, most requests that require funding will have to be denied.  

 

  1. KVH (Kentucky Virtual High School) has PD forms. There is a cost. 

 

  1. Any sub requests for PD must be submitted to central office at least 5 days prior to the deadline for the Board agenda

 

  1. PD for 2003-2004

      June 12/13 Curriculum Mapping (More info to follow) 

        June 11      Content Camps (Math, Science, LA) 18hours (More to follow)

If not attending school’s PD, county-wide PD topic at LHS:

“Practical Living Content Specific Mini-Conference”

Subtopics:  Eating Disorders, Fitness, Food Guide, Multi-Cultural Dance, Chemical Dependency, etc. Registration TBA   

6.  Other matters of discussion:

A.      Nov. 4 Content Specific Non Flexible PD Day:  we are waiting to hear from Bev Dean about a 3 hours math inservice

B.       Nov 4:  Developing Open Response Questions in the Content Areas (3 hours for grade level or groups of teachers)   

C.       Regina will be contacted about a 3 hour “Fragile Brain” inservice

D.      A presenter for Special Education legal requirements / autism, etc. will be contacted

E.       A 3 hour computer inservice will be scheduled

F.       The PD committee will plan 3 days of inservices and leave one day (6 hours) for independent PD

G.       An ESL inservice with Elaine Maggard was discussed as a possibility
