Mr.
McCaw gave our committee the charge of determining the curriculum to be taught
for the 2004-2005 school year in the science/resource class.
Ms. Burton had submitted what she wanted to cover for each grade level
for the 4 nine weeks.
We
looked at the Curriculum Map for Science for each grade level.
It was decided that we needed input from the teachers of each grade level
before a decision could be made about the science curriculum.
Janice
Duncan met with Mr. McCaw the following day, Wednesday, May 5 to get approval to
send out an email to the staff regarding the science curriculum.
An
email was sent asking the following questions:
*What units of science are covered in your classroom?
How many hours does this take per week?
*What is currently taught during science/resource with your class?
*What curriculum would be most beneficial for the students during the
science/resource/class? Please look
at the Curriculum Map and Framework for this.
The
teachers were asked to answer the previous questions at their next grade level
meetings and return them to Janice Duncan by Friday, May 14.
The
Curriculum Committee will meet again to compile the data from the information
received and decide upon the next step. A
curriculum framework will be ready by the end of the school year.
