Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee met on Oct. 7, 2003.  Members present were Regina Adams and Eileen Haggard, co-chairs, Cynthia Turner, Shayla Mettille, Janice Duncan, and Debbie Moore. 
       The main business of the meeting was approval by the Committee of the ESS Proposal.  Regina will submit the same to SBDM on October 21 at  the regular meeting.  Evaluation of student progress for those in ESS will be done with SRI  and MST pre- and post-testing for reading and math respectively.  Also, a data form checklist will be completed by teachers, as well as a questionnaire.
       According to new FCPS guidelines, teachers must request permission from SBDM for field trips.  Deadlines for request must be observed.  Also, teachers must show how the field trip relates to core content and curriculum.  Follow up activities must be provided.  Janice Duncan will compose a form for applying for field trip.  Committee members will review it.  Different grade levels will give input by 11/4 and comments by our next meeting. We should not mention the trip to parents until approved by SBDM.
       Three parent representatives for our committee were contacted, but none was able to attend. Our next Curriculum Committee will be 8:15, Nov. 4th , in Ms. Adams' office.
