The Curriculum Committee discussed writing portfolios and the Consolidated Plan.
Components of the CP will be
submitted to different committees for discussion, suggestions, additions,
deletions, and other changes. A
blank component form will be given each committee and this will be submitted to
the Curriculum Committee directly after the December committee meetings.
The Curriculum Committee will compile these changes and submit them to
the staff and the SBDM Council. We
will get the information to the committees by next week.
Please remember in this Consolidated Plan process that our curriculum and school
are driven by this plan. If we ask
for it, there is a chance we will at least be considered, if we do not ask for
it there is little chance. Don’t
ask for the moon … unless we really need it… if so, ASK!!!!!!!
We need to plan for realistic things that will continue to keep our
school at the head of the pack in Fayette County as well as Kentucky.
The following committees will work on the corresponding components of the
Consolidated Plan.

The
committee also talked about portfolios and the expectations of primary teachers
regarding developmentally appropriate as well as challenging pieces.
Ideas brought to the Curriculum Committee were the time spent developing
pieces in primary should be concentrated on fewer pieces -- K-1 should work on a
fictional piece, l – 2 should work on fictional and personal narrative …
and so forth. This is
something that needs to be discussed as a staff.
Other
items regarding portfolios were discussed and will be referred to Central Office
for answers.
Respectfully
submitted, Stonewall Curriculum Committee
