Subject: Scott Foresman
Highlights:
A concern that not all teachers are using the program completely. A reminder that the program is systematic and it is important that children learn the skills as in program.
The program begins easier and this helps to increase the childrens confidence. If teachers are concerned about the program being too easyteachers need to be sure that the skills are mastered as well as being able to read and comprehend material.
The program is strong in phonics. There are many means in which the program supports the skills: phonic readers, leveled readers, and workbooks.
Teachers could supplement higher level of reading through the leveled readers, or Stacie Musgrave, the Librarian, is more than willing to help pull reading books on childrens levels.
A reminder that the SF program supports Accelerated Reading program and Stacie has a list of books that the program supports.
Reminder to keep records of childrens ongoing growth.
Subject: PTA
Highlights:
We appreciate the monies that the PTA is giving to teachers to help buy extra reading supplies.
Janel deBoer is still trying to get leveled readers free of charge from the Scott Foresman Reading Company. A lot of the readers are on back order due to the demand.
