Committee Name: Climate, Equity, and Guidance

Discussion of parent volunteers – Shayla Mettille suggested an ESL parent for the committee. Janice Duncan will also see if there are any parents willing to serve on the committee. The parent volunteer(s) will be invited to all future meetings.

What do we want to accomplish this year? We would like to send out a survey to the staff that addresses concerns with the overall climate/equity of the school. The committee will be thinking of ideas to include in the survey and will put this together at the next meeting.

At this time, we will also wait for further instruction on what our committee should accomplish this year.

Questions asked and discussed during the meeting:

What part of "Guidance" do we discuss / is this committee in charge of?

Is ESL now a part of this committee (and no longer part of the curriculum committee)?

We will seek answers from Mr. McCaw regarding these questions.

(NOTE TO COUNCIL: I have answered the questions as follows:

If a guidance issue arises that requires an SBDM decision, then this committee will address that issue, and a recommendation will be made to the faculty and the Council.

The curriculum committee will address ESL issues involving curriculum.
