Time:  2:30-3:30 P.M.

Members present:  R. Adams, D. Barnes, S. Britt, B. Burton, T. Butler, S. Clark, J. Whitaker

Problems are arising concerning schedule conflicts with resource classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring.  ESL students are missing resource classes.  A suggestion was made to have Central Office provide support for teachers who have ESL students.

Ms. Butler commented, according to the information given at the Summer 2001 “Closing the Achievement Gap” in-service, Central Office has little support and/or resources available for teachers of Asian students.

Mrs. Adams, Stonewall’s guidance counselor, will reduce the number of guidance classes due to S.A.T. needs.  She will be in each homeroom at least four times.  All classes have had instruction on dealing with sexual harassment.

Adams further stated that “peer mediation” is a requirement for the Consolidated Plan.  Peer mediation helps with leadership and accountability.  Fourth and fifth graders will be involved with this program.  It will take three days for the “peer mediation” training sessions.  Scheduling needs to begin within the next month.  Training sessions may possibly take place in a portable classroom.
