Stonewall Elementary
PTA Board Meeting
October 28, 2003

Members Present:  Susan Honican, President; Debbie Miller, 1^st Vice President; Michelle Cohron, Secretary; Christy Surbaugh, Bev Starks, Cynthia Pettit, Betty Lorch, Shih-Ling Wedlund, Cassandra Simpson, Amy Caudill, Danita Hines, Becky Ferrero, Susan Schaefer, Janet Lewis, Mary Jane Kinman, Jane Armistead, Kathy Greene, Denise Knox, Susie Holman, Kristen Slavik, Glendon Carlton, and Ginny Johnson.  Also in attendance was Ed McCaw, Principal.

The meeting came to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Stonewall Library.  There being a quorum present, the meeting commenced and business was conducted.

Agenda Item 1:                Opening Statements – Susan Honican

The new meeting time will be 6:30 p.m. beginning with the December 2, 2003 meeting.  Written committee reports are due by the Friday before the meeting.  

Agenda Item 2:                Approval of Minutes

Denise Knox made a motion to approve the minutes from September’s meeting.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

Agenda Item 3:                Treasurer’s Report – Esther Edwards

Kathy Green made a motion to provide the front office with $100 for use towards supplies for the Character Education Board as previously passed with the amendment that the money be for the entire year and not restricted to a monthly dollar amount.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

Debbie Miller made a motion to reimburse Cynthia Pettit $60.00 for expenses she incurred during the membership drive.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

The following corrections need to be made to the financial report:  1.  Character Education Line Item should read $100.00.  2.  Day of Caring should read $341.72.  3.  Beautification Line Item should read $200.00.  Glendon Carlton made a motion to accept all budgetary corrections as discussed.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

Agenda Item 4:                Unfinished Business

A.  A sign up sheet was sent around to all members present at the meeting to for the By-laws Committee.

B.  Denise Knox made a motion to fund $90 towards the “Mileage Walking Club”.  The money will be transferred from “Money to be Voted on at a Later Date” line item.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

Agenda Item 5:                New Business

A.  Ms. Shih-Ling Wedlund presented a request to the PTA for financial support of the Chess Club.  Denise Knox made a motion to approve $750 to be given to the Chess Club with the PTA then taking over the administration of the “Box Top” program.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

B.  Heather Robertson presented a request to the PTA regarding needs of the Early Start Program at Rosa Parks Elementary School.  Cynthia Pettit made a motion to give $300 to the Rosa Parks Early Start Program which supports preschool age children who live in the Stonewall Elementary school district.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

C.  Debbie Miller made a presentation to the PTA regarding the need for a noise monitoring system for the cafeteria.  Discussion ensued and a motion was made by Michelle Cohron to table the discussion until further information is presented.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

All business before the Stonewall Elementary PTA having been completed, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
